Contributing to Human Archive
What is Human Archive?
Human Archive collects first-person ("egocentric") video of everyday tasks — recorded by contributors like you — to build datasets that train embodied-AI and robotics models. You find a task, record a short clip of yourself doing it, and submit. There is also an optional voice feature, Voice Exchange, described below.
How do I record?
Open a task, line up the shot so your hands and the task are in frame, and double-press a volume button to start and stop recording. A spoken countdown plays before recording begins, and a confirmation plays when you stop. You can re-record or delete any clip before you submit — nothing leaves your device until you tap Submit.
What does the app capture?
There are two kinds of task, and they capture different things. Video tasks record first-person video and motion (device-motion / IMU) data only — the microphone is not used and no audio is recorded. Voice Exchange tasks are the reverse: they record audio and no video. See the Privacy Policy for the full detail, and the Contributor Recording Rules for what you may and may not capture in each.
What is Voice Exchange?
An optional voice feature with three kinds of task: a solo task where you speak on a topic or read a script we provide, a one-time reading assessment that checks your language proficiency in a language, and a live two-party conversation with another contributor. Your voice is recorded, uploaded, and stored; conversations record both participants, and both must accept the per-call consent screen before recording starts. Voice Exchange is governed by the Voice Contributor Rules, Section 5 of the Contributor Recording Rules, and a separate in-app consent. It is not available to residents of Illinois, Texas, Washington, or Oregon.
How do payouts work?
Approved submissions earn the payout shown on each task. Your balance and settlement history are visible in the app, and payouts are sent to your chosen payout method after your submissions are approved.
Human Archive may reverse or revoke an approval that was issued due to technical error, fraud, duplicate submissions, or material quality or policy issues discovered after initial review. Human Archive will notify the contributor of any such reversal. No payout is earned until a submission has received final approval under our review process.
Why was my submission rejected?
Submissions are reviewed against each task's requirements and the Contributor Recording Rules — common reasons for video are hands not visible, the wrong task, poor lighting, or capturing something the rules prohibit; for voice, a recording that is too short, too noisy, or in the wrong language. You can re-record and resubmit, but do not resubmit the same or a substantially similar recording.
How do I delete my account?
In the app: Settings → Account → Delete Account. This deletes your account and personal information. Approved clips and voice recordings are de-identified (unlinked from your identity) and kept as part of the datasets; unapproved submissions are deleted. See the Privacy Policy.
