You ("Contributor") agree to these terms with Human Archive, Inc. ("Human Archive").
1. What you contribute
Human Archive has two kinds of tasks. Video tasks are first-person ("egocentric") video clips of everyday tasks, captured with your device's cameras and motion sensors; they contain video and motion data only — the microphone is not used and no audio is recorded during a video task. Voice Exchange tasks are a separate, optional feature that records your voice and captures no video; they are governed by the Voice Contributor Rules, Section 5 of the Contributor Recording Rules, and a separate in-app voice consent — not by the video statements in this section (see section 10).
2. License you grant
You keep ownership and authorship of your clips. You grant Human Archive a worldwide, perpetual, irrevocable, non-exclusive, royalty-free, fully paid-up, sublicensable license to host, reproduce, adapt, create derivative works from, and use your clips and their metadata to develop, train, evaluate, and improve machine-learning and robotics models, and to include them in datasets Human Archive licenses to its customers for those purposes.
3. Drafts stay on your device
Nothing leaves your device until you tap Submit. Re-record or delete any draft before then.
4. Quality check
Your clips go through an automated quality check. Part of it runs entirely on your device, confirming that your hands are visible. To confirm the clip shows the assigned task, the app also sends a small number of still frames (about one per minute, while you record) to an automated AI service; your full recordings and motion data never leave your device for this check. The app tells you about this before you record. See our Privacy Policy for what is sent, who processes it, and the terms on which that provider may use it.
5. Review, approval, and payment
Every submission is reviewed as described in Section 11 of the Contributor Recording Rules. Approved submissions earn the payout shown on the task; rejected submissions earn nothing.
Human Archive may reverse or revoke an approval that was issued due to technical error, fraud, duplicate submissions, or material quality or policy issues discovered after initial review. Human Archive will notify the contributor of any such reversal. No payout is earned until a submission has received final approval under our review process.
6. Eligibility
You must be at least 18 years old to contribute. The Service is not currently offered to residents of Illinois, Texas, Washington, or Oregon, and may be unavailable in other regions — see Section 1 of the Contributor Recording Rules.
7. Deleting your account
You can delete your account anytime in Settings → Account → Delete Account. Human Archive then deletes your account and personal information. Clips and voice recordings you contributed that were approved are de-identified — unlinked from your identity — and kept as part of Human Archive's datasets; submissions that were not approved are deleted. We'll tell you what was deleted and what was kept.
8. Privacy
How Human Archive handles your information, including the voice recordings collected through Voice Exchange, is described in its Privacy Policy — please read it.
9. Acceptable use
When you record, you agree to the Contributor Recording Rules, which govern what you may and may not capture in both video and voice tasks. We review submissions and may reject or remove content, and suspend or terminate accounts, for violations.
10. Voice Exchange (voice tasks)
Voice Exchange is a separate, optional feature comprising solo voice tasks, a one-time reading assessment per language, and live two-party conversations. If you take part: (a) your voice is recorded, uploaded, stored, and processed, and we keep data derived from it (transcript, detected language, speaker count, audio-quality and AI-generated-voice scores); (b) conversations are all-party recorded — both participants' voices are captured, and both must accept the per-call consent screen before recording begins; (c) you grant the license in the Voice Contributor Rules (section 5), including inclusion in datasets Human Archive licenses to third parties, which are licensed separately from video datasets; (d) service providers include LiveKit (live audio) and Google's Gemini API (assessment scoring only); (e) retention, deletion, and your consent-withdrawal rights are as described in the Privacy Policy and the Voice Contributor Rules; and (f) you must be at least 18. The video-clip statements in section 1 do not apply to Voice Exchange. Full terms: Voice Contributor Rules.
