Voice Contributor Rules

Effective date: July 3, 2026

Voice Exchange — assessment & live conversations

These Voice Contributor Rules apply to Human Archive's Voice Exchange feature — the language assessment and the live two-party voice conversations. They are in addition to the Contributor Terms and the Privacy Policy. By taking part in Voice Exchange you agree to these Rules.

1. What Voice Exchange records

A short read-aloud assessment sample, and live conversations with another contributor. Your voice is recorded, uploaded, and stored.

2. Your voice is biometric data

Human Archive collects and processes your voice as a biometric identifier — to verify language proficiency, to build and improve speech and embodied-AI datasets and models, and for the purposes described in the Privacy Policy.

3. All-party recording

Conversations are between two people and both voices are recorded. Take part only if you consent to being recorded, and do not share sensitive personal information (financial data, health data, government IDs, or other people's personal information) during a conversation.

4. Eligibility

You must be at least 18 years old. Voice Exchange may be unavailable in some regions.

5. License you grant

You keep authorship of your voice recordings. You grant Human Archive a worldwide, perpetual, irrevocable, non-exclusive, royalty-free, fully paid-up, sublicensable license to host, store, transcribe, adapt, create derivative works from, and use your voice recordings and data derived from them (including transcripts and acoustic features) to develop, train, evaluate, and improve machine-learning models, and to include them in datasets Human Archive licenses to its customers for those purposes.

6. Service providers

Real-time audio is carried by LiveKit; automated assessment scoring uses Google (Gemini); recordings are stored by Human Archive's cloud provider. See the Privacy Policy for the current list of service providers.

7. Retention and deletion

Human Archive retains voice recordings and derived biometric data per the schedule in the Privacy Policy and destroys them in line with applicable biometric-privacy laws (including, where applicable, Illinois' Biometric Information Privacy Act — no later than the earlier of the purpose being satisfied or three years from your last interaction). You can withdraw consent and request deletion at any time in Settings → Account. Approved recordings already incorporated into datasets are de-identified — unlinked from your identity — and kept, consistent with the Contributor Terms.

8. Conduct

Speak only for yourself; don't record third parties who haven't consented; no unlawful, harassing, or infringing content.

9. Payment

Where a payout applies, it is described in the app. Contributors who join through a distributor network are compensated by that network, not in-app.

10. Changes

We may update these Rules. Material changes are re-consented in the app (consent is versioned).
